Abstract
549,193. Time switches. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 20, 1942, No. 804. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1941. [Class 38 (v)] In a time switch, an " hour " shaft 27, encircling a " minute " shaft 22, bears an operating member 42 splined on it by the engagement of a spring 41 in a groove 43. The end of the spring forms a catch which engages the inner rim of a disc 35 which can be set to any radial position, indicated by a pointer 14. A further disc 34 can be set by a pointer 15. Each of these discs has a slot 39, 40 in one position and as the discs are rotated by the "hour" shaft, the slots permit the catch 41, and hence the operating member, to snap along the splined shaft under the influence of spring 46, through the collars 35, 34 in turn, the first movement closing contacts 45, 47, the second opening them again. The movement may be reset by means of a lever 19.
