Abstract
1277911 Clocks GENERAL TIME CORP 20 March 1970 [27 March 1969] 16044/69 Heading G3T [Also in Division H1] An electric alarm clock combined with a radio has a selector shaft 70 which is biased by a spring 73 into a central "ON" position in which the radio is turned on via a switch consisting of the spring 73 and a fixed contact 74. The shaft 70 is of plastics and is secured to a resilient plastics selector arm 80 having a striker 83 which cooperates with detents 81, 82 in a frame plate (21) Figs.3 and 7 (not shown) to retain the shaft 70 in outer "OFF" and "AUTO" positions respectively, in which the switch 73, 74 is open. The alarm time is selected by means of a shaft 65 which is connected to an alarm set wheel 60 and a corresponding hand 62. At the pre-selected time, the shaft 70 is released from the "AUTO" position by deflection of the arm 80 resulting from axial movement of an hour wheel 50 as cam surfaces 53, 63 engage. The radio may be switched off for a "drowse" period by depression of a button 104 connected to a plastics arm 100 which is pivoted at 101. As the button 104 is depressed, a pawl 105 on a flexible extension of the arm 100 becomes engaged with a minute wheel 40, and the selector arm 80 is moved to the "OFF" position. As the minute wheel 40 rotates, the pawl 105 is released and the arm 100 is returned by a spring 102, carrying the selector arm 80 back to the "ON" position by means of a stop 111 on the arm 100 and a post 108 on the selector arm 80.
