Abstract

904,611. Watches. LIP S. A. D'HORLOGERIE. Aug. 6, 1959 [Aug. 8, 1968], No. 26939/59. Class 139. An electric watch of the type in which the balance 18, Fig. 2, is maintained in oscillation by an electromagnetic circuit comprising a pair of batteries 1, 1<SP>1</SP> connected in parallel with a pair of stationary coils 7, 71 wound on interconnected cores 10, 10<SP>1</SP> having polepieces 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. The batteries 1, 11 are also connected by conductors 15, 15<SP>1</SP> to a stationary contact device. The polepieces are polarized by a permanent magnet 16. The balance 18 is made of highly permeable metal and has peripheral projections 19, 19<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, located at different heights to co-operate with the polepieces 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. The circuit is energized as the balance swings clockwise when a pin 25 on a plate 26 carried by the balance staff moves an adjustable spring contact 23 against an adjustable stationary contact 20. The switch is open when the balance is at rest. A diode rectifier 9 prevents sparking at the switch. A pin 29 drives the index wheel 28 and a permanent index magnet 32 is provided. The index wheel 28 drives the train to the centre seconds, minute and hour hands 66, 107, 108, Fig. 12. A pivoted lever 67, Fig. 3, is held against one or other of the magnetized pins 72, 73 and has a forked end 70 which cooperates with a pin 71 depending from the balance to prevent excessive movement thereof. The hand setting mechanism, Fig. 8, comprises a gear 37 on a spindle 33 which is parallel to the balance staff and is axially movable by a folding bow located in the watch case back. When the spindle 33 is moved to its hand setting position a cam 40 on the spindle 33 actuates a lever mechanism 41, 45 to bring a stop member 50 into engagement with the rim of the balance 18 and a stop member 52 into engagement with the index wheel 28. Notches 56 in the balance rim prevent the balance from being arrested in the switch closing position. Each battery is inserted from the rear into an insulating block and is held therein by a plug member. The glass 87, Fig. 22, has a flange held by a reinforcing ring 88 and engaged by a bezel 89. The outer index pin of the regulator is L-shaped.
