Abstract
A silver paste is made by mixing finely comminuted silver, manufactured according to claims 6 and 7 of Specification 569,388, with a solution of a flux formed of lead borate in a liquid mutually soluble with water, e.g. glycerine, to form a paste. The paste may be used for making adherent films of silver on non-metallic surfaces, e.g. of ceramic or mica, by brushing or printing and burning off, e.g. at a temperature of 580-660 DEG C. The paste preferably has the composition 0.75-2 per cent of lead borate, 70 per cent of silver, 5 per cent of water, 1.5 per cent of gelatine, the remainder being glycerine. In the manufacture of electric condensers, one or more electrodes are formed of adherent silver films made according to the invention, the lead borate content of the paste used being preferably 0.75 per cent. The terminal leads of electric condensers may be soldered to the silver films of the electrode surfaces by a paste containing preferably 2 per cent of lead borate.
