Abstract
607,363. Piezo-electric crystal mountings. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELEKTRO-HOLDING AKT.-GES. Jan. 31, 1946, No. 3160. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1945. [Class 40 (v)] Piezo-plectric crystals are mounted by means of at least one suspension spring, engaging in at least one bore hole in the crystal. In Fig. 1 the mounting spring has an open loop 3 which is passed through a borehole 2 in the crystal 1 so as not to contact the electrodes 4. The hole 2 is arranged at a vibration node, In Fig. 4 the crystal 1 is mounted by means of two springs 3, 3<1> passing through separate holes 2, 2<1> close to a node. The spring pressure is increased by winding one end of the springs round fixed bolts 5, 5<1>. Alternatively, the springs may engage in a single hole, and may enter the hole from opposite sides, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The springs may be of bronze, steel, glass, or synthetic resin. When of metal, the springs may be used as conductors for the crystal electrodes, and may be fixed in the boreholes by cement.
