Abstract
605,288. Piezo-electric crystal mountings. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELECTRO-HOLDING AKT.-GES. Dec. 19, 1945, No. 34399. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] A piezo-electric crystal is mounted by means of a stretched insulating thread passing through a borehole in the crystal, means being provided for avoiding displacement of the crystal along the thread. In Fig. 1, a crystal 1 having gold electrode coatings 4 leads 5 is mounted on an insulating thread 2 resiliently held between two fixed points 9, 9<1> and passing through a borehole in the crystal. Endwise movement of the crystal is prevented by knots 3, or by cementing the thread to the crystal. Alternatively, a loop of thread surrounding the crystal may be fixed to the suspension thread at points a, a<1>, or two threads may be passed through the borehole and spread apart, or each thread may be wound round one half of the crystal. In Fig. 3, two boreholes are provided and two suspension threads 2, 2<1>, endwise movement being prevented by transverse threads 7. Alternatively, two loop - shaped suspension threads may be passed in opposite directions through the two boreholes, the pairs of free ends being held stretched in opposite directions.
