Abstract

631,864. Cable end loops. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BOWD, A. G. Feb. 26, 1945, No. 4767. [Class 109] A loop-forming device for cables comprises a body having an outwardly flaring recess in one face thereof, two parallel apertures debouching at their one end in the recess and at their opposite end in a second face of the body, a pear-shaped thimble around which the loop passes, the ends of the thimble seating in the recess, together with clamping means for gripping a cable in the apertures. A third parallel aperture may be provided to accommodate the loose end of the cable. The second face may be undercut so that one aperture extends beyond the others. In one form the device comprises a thimble 2, and a cylindrical bar 1 with a conical recess 5, three symmetrically arranged parallel apertures 6,7, and 8, and having its second face undercut so that the aperture 6 extends beyond the apertures 7 and 8. The cable is threaded therethrough as shown, the loose end being inserted in the aperture 8. Threaded holes at right angles to the axis of the bar break into all of the apertures 6, 7 and 8, and receive grub screws 9 constituting the clamping means whereby the cable is held in all of the apertures:
