Abstract
618,962. Resilient mountings. ANTELME, L. X. April 11, 1946, No. 11192. Convention date, Nov. 5, 1945. [Class 108 (iii)] In a shock and vibrationdamping support comprising an elastic member 2 interposed between a hollow element 1 and a core 3, the surfaces of which are coaxial surfaces of revolution having a portion of reduced cross-section between their ends, means are provided for compressing the elastic member in a direction parallel to the axis of the surfaces of revolution by bearing on portions of the member substantially perpendicular to the axis of revolution. In the construction shown, the member 2, before assembly of the support, comprises a block of rubber of double frustoconical external shape and having a cylindrical axial bore. On assembly, the member 2 is compressed between a shoulder 5 on the core 3 and a washer 9, by a nut 8. The support may be mounted in a horizontal position to support an overhung member or may be mounted vertically to support an axial load. The support may also be used as a pivot.
