Abstract
607,086. Beaming warps. HIBBERT, H. M., HOLROYD, J., and BAINES, R. H. Jan. 25, 1946, No. 2504. [Classes 142(ii) and 142(iv)] [Also in Group VIII] A beaming collar comprises a strip 10 of thick pliant material (cardboard) faced on both sides with thinner material (paper), of which the portion 11 projects farther than the portion 13. Pairs of collars Fig. 2, for the two ends of a warp are made by folding a sheet of paper round two gummed strips 10, perforating the sheet down the middle, and winding on to a roll of the same diameter as the warp beam; when the adhesive dries, the collars have a permanent set and the coils are cut along a radius and separated along the perforations. During beaming, the collars are interleaved in the warp Fig. 4, either on a beam without flanges or on one with non-adjustable or coarsely adjustable flanges 32, the strips 10 in the latter cases being of a width to fit between the flanges. The folds of paper at the outer edges of the collars can be crushed as shown at.14 to prevent the escape of any yarns that have strayed between the collars. Full width papers may also be inserted in the warp, or the collars may be formed on full width papers.
