Abstract

992,117. Honeycomb paper. DUFAYLITE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. June 21, 1962 [July 10, 1961], No. 24850/61. Heading D2B. [Also in Division B5] Structural cellular material is made by forming a continuous web of sheet material, e.g. paper or cardboard, into continuous longitudinal pleats, preferably box pleats, folding the pleated web transversely backwards and forwards to form a stack, and securing the layers together by means of an adhesive. The form of the pleats and distribution of the adhesive are so correlated that slices cut from the stack across the direction of the pleats (Fig. 4) may be pulled out into an open cellular state. As shown in Fig. 3, the crests of the pleats on both sides of the pleated web are coated with adhesive by rollers 4 and 4<SP>1</SP>, and the web is then folded along score lines 3 to build up the stack 6.
