605,374. Securing articles on shafts; shaftcouplings. McCREDDIE, C. D. (Soc. Anon. des Tissages A. Brechard). Sept. 2, 1941, No. 11221. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 27, 1942.] [Class 80 (ii)] A pinion 14, pulley, cam or lever is secured on a shaft 2 by an interposed sleeve 5 (or number of rings) of resilient material such as rubber, which is compressed axially by a screw 13 or nut, acting on the sleeve through end-washers 3, which completely encase the sleeve so as to cause it to exert drive-transmitting radial pressure between the pinion and shaft. As shown, a split steel sleeve 6 is interposed between the resilient sleeve 5 and the shaft 2, and the end-washers 3 have flanges 3b completely filling the annular space at the ends of the sleeve 5. The screw 13 is self-tightening in the direction of drive. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers also to the securing of eccentrics, links and sleeves, and the coupling of offset shafts, radial clearances being shown at flat end-washers. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
