Abstract

531,155. Rollers. BUDD, C. H. July 13, 1939. No. 20456. [Class 42 (ii)] [Also in Group XVI] A damping roller for a lithographic printing machine is provided with circumferentially grooved extensions or collars adjacent the ends of the roller to receive clamping rings for clamping the ends of the absorbent sleeve surrounding the roller. In one form, the roller shaft 2 is provided at each end with a flanged collar 5 on to which the ends of the sleeve 4 are secured by a split ring 9 provided with a clamping screw and nut. The collar may seal the junction between the roller stock 1 and its usual composition covering 3, or a separate sealing washer 13 may be provided. The collars 5 may be integral with the shaft 2 and roller stock 1.
