Abstract
604,257. Aerials. GILLHAM, E. J. Dec. 12, 1945, No. 33641. [Class 40 (vii)] An aerial for use in an airborne radar system of the kind described in Specification 599,572, wherein a uniform illumination of the earth's surface is produced within certain limits, comprises a mirror reflector 10 fed from, or feeding into, a wave-guide horn 11, there being positioned within the reflector a member 13 of dielectric material so as to provide the desired asymmetry of the radiation/reception characteristic in a plane perpendicular to the dielectric member. As shown, the member 13 comprises two sheets of either of the materials known under the Registered Trade Marks " Perspex " and " Distrene," one of the sheets having a straight front edge parallel to the aperture and the other having a different shape so that the member varies in thickness.
