Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a joint use of the aircraft controlling function and the meteorological CAPPI function by adding the function of the meteorological radar to the aircraft controlling radar. CONSTITUTION:Antenna 4 through which beams are formed equivalently within the vertical plane is turned within the horizontal plane,and thus meteorological signal process part 7 is added to the aircraft controlling radar to obtain the 3-dimentional information such as the distance information, the azimuth information and the elevation angle information. Through this aircraft radar, the 3-dimensional information, that is, target reflection signal (a) given from receiver 5, distance information (b) to the target and azimuth information (c) given from antenna driving unit 3 are supplied to process part 7. Then the meteorological information can be obtained through the CAPPI gate process for the regions shown by the oblique lines, i.e., the prescribed region DELTAH at a constant altitude H. Thus, the aircraft controlling functuon and the meteorological CAPPI function can be used jointly.
