[Class 142(iv)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In an air filter comprising a plurality of contiguous layers of woven wire, expanded metal or the like coated with oilsoaked fabric (see Group XXVIII) the wire 11, Fig. 1, is closely wrapped with two oil absorbent textile threads or braids 12, 13 in opposite directions. Alternatively woven wire, 22, Fig. 10, after being given a coat of varnish 23 is sprayed with finely comminuted unspun cotton or rayon fibres 24 having tendrils 24a. Specifications 534,385, 534,386, and 544,296, [all in Group XXVIII], are referred to.
