Abstract

1349504 Non-woven fabric RHONE-POULENC TEXTILE 21 April 1972 [26 April 1971] 18602/72 Heading D2B A non-woven fabric made from wet-laid fibres bonded together by less than 30% by wt. of a chemical binder is characterised by the fact that from 5-80% by wt. of the fibres are spirally crimped side-by-side composite fibres of 10-40mm length and 1-20 dtex. The remainder of the fibres may be natural e.g. wood pulp, cotton; chemically modified natural e.g. rayon; or synthetic fibres. The binder may be a latex e.g. an acrylic latex and it may be added both before and after formation of the fabric (see Example 1). The composite fibres may be made from polyesters, polyamides, polyolefins, acrylic, or modacrylic polymers. The crimp may be developed after wet-laying of the potentially crimpable fibres by appropriate heat treatment.
