Abstract
599,474. Electric water boilers. SOUTH WALES SWITCHGEAR, Ltd., DAVIES, P. R., and BROCK, F. Sept. 18, 1945, No. 24084. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric heating apparatus such as a water boiler wherein the heating element is attached to the external surface of the container 1 comprises heating elements 12 secured to a plate 8 having one or more inclined surfaces 11 on which bears a bolt 7 carried by a lug 6 attached to the container whereon screwing said bolt down causes the opposite edge of the plate to engage with and ride on inclined surfaces 4 of other lugs 3 attached to the container so that the plate is forced towards the container and the heating elements abut and make, good contact therewith. Additional fixing. screws 21 serve to hold the plate in position. The elements comprise resistance wire between mica sheets secured to a heavy gauge steel plate by an embracing light gauge plate, the whole being attached to the carrier plate 8 by screws.
