Abstract

219,615. Crabtree, J. A. March 8, 1924. Plug couplings.-Plug and socket connections of the type involving a socket a formed with a longitudinal split b and a number of circumferential slots c, as shown, are provided with an integral lug d, having an opening e for the reception of a conductor. The socket a is accommodated between the parts g, h of a composite insulator, the parts being clamped together by screws n, which engage a plate o having ends p resting in a ring q. Backing material i is interposed between the parts g, h. A recess m in the lower part h of the insulator contains a spring l which maintains the socket in place, while permitting slight movement for alignment with the plug connector. In a modified form of the insulator the upper part g entirely surrounds the lower part h, and the socket is held down by a bolt against a flat spring.
