Abstract
599,213. Casting cavity walls in situ. WILLIAMS, C. H. July 30, 1945, No. 19384. [Class 20(ii)] Shuttering for cavity walls comprises interior and exterior shutters made of metal sheet reinforced with angle-irons 13, and core boxes 7 which are reducible both in width and thickness. The shutters are connected to each other and to screed boards 11 by short angle-irons 14 having studs at each end, and by clips 6 which have lugs engaging alternately over and under the adjacent angle-irons. Hinged angle-irons and diagonals 16 are used at the corners. The shutters are also held in position by bridge pieces 17 placed across the top of the lift. The core boxes 7 are made of two metal sheets each cut diagonally and reinforced along the edges (including diagonals) by angle-iron. The parts are joined by two pairs of links 21 at either side of the box and by stud and slot connections 22 between adjacent diagonal angle irons. The boxes rest on recessed wall ties 9 positioned between them. The exterior shutters are impressed to produce decoration on facing material which is held between the shutters and slide sheets 3, Fig. 3. The slide sheets are connected to the shutters by pivoted hooks so that they may be withdrawn when the shutters are in position and the concrete has been cast. The next lift may be cast by assembling another set of shutters on to the existing shutters.
