Abstract

540,302. Walls. STRABLE, K. F., and GYPROC PRODUCTS, Ltd. April 10, 1940, No. 6503. [Class 20 (iv] A partition wall is constructed of precast plaster slab planks 10 at least inch in thickness which extend from floor to ceiling and are shaped to fit together along their vertical edges 13, plaster being applied to both sides of the planks after erection to bring the total thickness of the wall to at least 2 inch. The precast slab planks are preferably made by moulding plaster of Paris in an. enclosed paper mould, and may be aerated in the manner described in Specification 523,264, [Group V]. The tongue-and-groove joints 13 between adjacent planks, which are bonded by means of glue or other material, are preferably of V-section, the edges being machined after the planks have dried. In erection, the planks are located in metal channels 14, 16 secured to the ceiling and floor, and plaster is then applied, preferably a base coat 22 of plaster of Paris and sand and a finishing coat 23 of gypsum plaster. A skirting may be formed on each side by a horizontal precast plaster plank 24 carried by a metal or other casing 25 which engages a flange 26 on an extension of the channel 16 and is retained by screws 27 driven into the wall.
