Abstract
598,612. Drinking vessels. PREARIS, M. Sept. 4, 1945, Nos. 22761/45 and 25402/46. [Class 128] [Also in Groups VI and XVII] A closed container for beverages has combined therewith a " straw " through which the contents can be withdrawn without opening the container. As shown in Fig. 5, a carton a is provided with a recess b, having an aperture d, and covered by a sealing strip c to form a housing for the " straw " e, which projects above it and is normally sealed by a stopper f with a skirt h bearing against the end of the housing. The housing may be replaced by tube k or i<2>, Fig. 9 (not shown). As shown in Fig. 13 a carton n, with a screwed-on cap n', has an open-ended tube o connected by a short rubber tube o', which forms a seal on bending, to the " straw " o<2> normally held by a paper seal p and which may be accommodated in a longitudinal recess. In either form, an ice cream cup may be provided in the upper end of the container and the arrangement of the " straw " &c. inverted, the container being inverted in use. In all containers there are air holes which may be covered with paper &c. seals or flap valves. Two " straws " may be provided whereby ice cream and beverage may be simultaneously but separately withdrawn.
