Abstract

723,588. Containers for liquids. LYONS & CO., Ltd., J., and WHITE, P. July 8, 1953 [July 29, 1952], No. 19146/52. Class 94 (2). A container for liquids comprises a thin sheet of polythene folded at 2 and heat sealed along the edges. A conduit 4, consisting of two narrow strips of polythene secured together at their side edges by heat sealing, the lower end 4a being left unsealed to form a valve in known manner, is sealed into the top edge of the container and extends to a position adjacent the end of the container remote from the inlet end. Tags 6 and 6a extend upwardly from the inlet opening 5 the tag 6 being longer than the tag 6a to facilitate opening for the introduction of a tube 7 through which the container can be filled and emptied. The tags 6, 6a, and the length of the conduit 4 ensure that a drinking straw can be securely held in the conduit so that a container with its contents and a straw can be marketed together.
