Abstract

553,385. Bottles; stoppers. UNIVERSAG TECHNICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 10. 1942, No. 398. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1941. [Classes 125 (i) and 125 (iii)] Means for enabling part of the contents of a bottle or like container 1 to be withdrawn into another vessel, such as a phial 6, without coming into contact with the outside air comprises a stopper 3 formed with a duct 4 leading from a point at or near the bottom to a point at or near the top, the phial being mounted upon the stopper with its interior in communication with tne duct and communication between the duct and the interior of the container being opened and closed by rotation of the stopper. In use, the lower end 7 of the duct 4 is brought into register with a recess 8 formed in the neck of the container 1. In another form a separate connecting member may be interposed between the stopper and the phial the latter being screwed into a horizontal aperture in the connecting member; eccentric ducts are provided in the stopper and the connecting member which may be brought into and out of register by relative rotation of the stopper and connecting member. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which the duct extends to the under surface of the stopper and the neck of the bottle is formed with an inwardly projecting ledge which in one position of the stopper will close the duct; alternatively the lower end of the duct is formed at the edge of the stopper while the ledge is inclined. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
