Abstract
by blending with the oil a halogenated acena parted to mineral lubricating oils for machinery by blending with the oil a halogenated acenaphthene, e.g., 0.5 to 1.0 per cent. of chlorinated acenaphthene containing approximately two atomic proportions of chlorine obtained by direct chlorination in the absence of either solvent or catalyst near the melting point of the acenaphthene.ALSO:Chlorinated acenaphthenes are prepared by direct chlorination, in the absence of either solvent or catalyst, at or near the melting point of the acenaphthene or under conditions of rising temperature from normal temperature.
