Abstract

Crude fluorinated hydrocarbons are refined by treating them, preferably at 200-400 DEG C., in liquid phase with one of the agents CoF3, MnF3 or AgF2. In examples the product obtained by fluorinating a lubricant oil fraction of petroleum of about C25H10F24 average formula and a similar product obtained by fluorinating a high-boiling such fraction are repeatedly treated with CoF3 and/or silver difluoride respectively in liquid phase, with or without solvent, and the product distilled with or without filtration.
