Abstract
Chloroprene is obtained by pyrolysis of one or more of the chlorination products of 2-chlorbutene-2, including 2-2-3-trichlorbutane and the isomeric dichlorbutenes boiling at 111-112 DEG C. and 130-131 DEG C., but excluding such a process when copper or copper compounds are used as catalysts, which is covered by Specification 569,098. In detailed examples: (1)-(3) the trichlorbutane is pyrolyzed to chloroprene and dichlorbutenes; in example (4) the dichlorbutenes, separated from the chloroprene, are again pyrolyzed to produce more chloroprene; (5) the chlorination product of 2-chlorbutene-2 is pyrolyzed, yielding chloroprene and dichlorbutenes, the chloroprene being separated by polymerization; (7) 2-2-3-trichlorbutane is pyrolyzed in presence of barium chloride.
