Chloroprene is obtained by pyrolysis of one or more of the chlorination products of 2-chlorbutene-2, including 2-2-3-trichlorbutane and the isomeric dichlorbutenes boiling at 111-112 DEG C. and 130-131 DEG C. in the presence of metallic copper or a copper compound.
