[Class 60] An attachment for dressing grinding-wheels for the production of helicoid forms adapted for mounting between the work centres of the grinding-machine and for rotation from the work-head thereof is characterised by a frame adapted to be mounted between the work centres, a member pivotally mounted for axial and pivotal adjustment on said frame, the pivotal axis of said member being at right angles to the axis through the work centres, a tool-holding slider adapted for independent reciprocation at will in said member along an axis at right angles to the pivotal axis of said member, the tool being carried by said slider and having in turn its axis at right angles to the reciprocating axis of said slider. On a U-shaped frame 2 mounted between work centres 11 and driven from a carrier 13 is pivotally mounted, on a pillar 18, a block 17 in which a bush 21 is keyed for axial adjustment. A slider 16, slidable in the bush by a rack 27 and pinion 25, carries at its upper end a diamond tool 22. The block 17 is adjusted to the correct setting angle by the use of a gauge block 23 inserted between a sine arm 24 on the block and a datum peg 20 on the frame 2. The block 17 may be adjusted axially on the pivot 18 by the insertion of gauge blocks between the block and the frame 2. The dressing attachment is fed past the grinding wheel in the same way as the work-piece by the same lead screw mechanism.
