492,549. Trueing grinding-wheels. HOLBROOK, R. E. June 26, 1937, No. 17856. [Classes 60 and 124] A device for trueing a grinding- wheel 6 comprises a bracket 9 adapted to be secured to the wheel head and having slidable thereon, by means of a screw provided with a micrometer wheel 18, a slide 14, carrying a table 13 on which is slidable a carriage 12. The table 13 has secured thereto a hollow spindle 15 extending through the slide 14 and carrying a handle 21 whereby the spindle may be rotated to set the table 13 in any desired angular relation to the central plane of the grinding-wheel 6 ; scales 22, 43 enable the setting of the angle to be ascertained. The carriage 12 has slidable therein a member 32 to which is secured a holder 11 for a diamond 10, and on the carriage is formed a rack 23 engaged by a pinion 24 on a spindle 25, passing up through the spindle 15 and provided with a hand wheel 26, whereby the carriage 12 may be moved along the table 13. In operation, the flanks of the wheel are trued by setting the table 13 at angles determined by adjustable stops 27 carried by a plate 20 mounted on a part 50 and traversing the diamond across the flank by operation of the wheel 26. In order to true the periphery of the wheel 6 to a desired radius, the diamond is offset from the axis of the spindle 15 by adjustment of the slide 32 by a screw 31, the offset being determined by the use of a removable micrometer, and the spindle 15 is oscillated by the handle 21.
