Abstract

595,342. Ball joints. MERCER, Ltd., T., and CROOK. W. C. H. July 5, 1945, No. 17238. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XIX] A linear measurement dial gauge is connected to a support by means of a universal joint. The joint comprises a ball 12 connected to a gauge 1 by a stem 22 and pressed against a conical seating 13 of a socket 14 screwed at 15 to a tubular support 2. A compression spring 17 is interposed between a ring 16 bearing on the ball 12 and the end 18 of the support 2. The gauge may be locked in any set position by a screw 19 bearing on a push rod 21 extending through the support 2 and bearing on the ball 12.
