Abstract
585,605. Adjustable stands. HARRIS & SHELDON, Ltd., and WOOTTON, E. H. June 29, 1944, No. 12364. [Class 52 (iii)] [Also in Group XXV] In a vertically adjustable display stand an inner telescopic member 3 carries a resilient element 5, preferably of rubber, which is axially compressed by a spring 10 mounted on a central rod 7 and acting on an abutment on the rod to compress the element 5 between the end of the member 3 and an adjustable nut 9 on the rod. The resulting radial expansion of the element 5 against the outer telescopic member 1 holds the parts in adjusted position and pressure on the head 16 of the rod, either directly or by means of a sliding cam, enables the element 5 to contract and adjustment to be effected.
