Abstract

478,558. Dividing-mechanism. HIRST, C. Sept. 3, 1937, No. 24098. [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] A series of balls or rollers 55 are positioned in an annular groove 54 formed between the meeting surfaces of two relatively rotatable parts 53 57, and are held against movement around the groove relatively to one part 53 by an adjustable plunger 56. A plunger 58 is mounted upon the other part 57 for movement towards the groove to engage either one or two of the balls or rollers and hold the two parts in desired relative angular position. A third member 61 may be angularly adjustable relatively to the member 57 by a similar arrangement in which the number of rollers 60 is different from the number of rollers in the groove 54. The plungers 58, 59, may be formed as described in Specification 472,234.
