Abstract

619,618. Resilient mountings. ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., and RACKHAM, G. J. Dec. 16, 1946, No. 37047. [Class 108 (iii)] In a resilient joint or mounting of the kind in which natural or synthetic rubber or other similar resilient material is incorporated between relatively-movable parts of the mounting, and in which provision is made for positive limitation of movement between the parts, a pin is supported at one end only on one of the parts, the projecting portion of the pin being encircled by the resilient material supported in a ring carried by the other part, and the positive limitation of movement is effected only at a point adjacent to the supporting point of the pin. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a tube a is secured to a housing b in which a rubber ring f is held frictionally by compression of a nut and conical-headed bolt g, upon a conical sleeve c. On the occurrence of excessive bending load between the supported and supporting parts a, d respectively, a clearance h is taken up, and metal to metal contact occurs between the flange of the housing b and the sleeve c, thus substantially converting the stress from bending to shear.
