[Class 66] [Also in Groups XVIII and XXIX] A rubber packing ring 3 under the rim of a cooking vessel 5 is compressed to seal the vessel as the internal pressure increases, by a U-section segmental ring 2 encircling the flange of the lid &c. and forced upwardly by the internal pressure on the lid. A ring 4 locks the ring 2 in position. A safety-valve 6 weighted by a knob 7 can be held open by a pin 10 &c. moved by turning the knob 7.
