Abstract
593,376. Door and window frames. KOLLER, E. May 10, 1945, No. 11778. Convention date, Feb. 15. [Class 20(iii)] [Also in Group XXII] In order to ensure a close fit between the movable and fixed frames of a door or window, the frame, of Z or channel cross - section, comprises a folded metal plate forming the web and one flange of the Z or channel which is laterally adjusted in a groove in a profile piece of metal or other material forming the other flange, the web thereafter being rigidly secured to at least one wall of the slot. In the form shown, the movable frame of a casement window comprises a metal plate a<1>, a which is slid longitudinally into a groove b<5> in a profile piece, the groove being enlarged at the base to allow for intentional or other irregularities in the edge of the plate. The fixed frame is similarly formed and the two frames are so adjusted that the flanges a<1>, c<1> and b<1>, d<1> abut in the closed position. Additional abutting flanges b2, d<2> are also provided on the profile pieces. After adjustment of the two parts of each frame, they are secured together by screwing, riveting, welding, cement applied to a roughened surface, or by punching or stamping (see Group XXII). A double glazed sliding window is also described.
