592,839. Ground anchors. FREYSSINET, E. Feb. 21, 1941, No. 2402. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1940. Addition to 591,218. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Feb. 27, 1941.] [Class 45] [Also in Group X] Reinforcing wires for concrete are anchored, after tensioning, by wedges 8 inserted between the ends of the wires which are spaced out around the walls of a conical-cavity in the ends of the concrete 5. The wires are tensioned by a jack 9 having a piston 15, which, after the extension of the jack, is forced outwards against a plate 16 bearing against the ends of the wedges. The conical cavity is formed in a block 2, with wire reinforcements 3, 4 or in a cast iron sleeve inserted in the concrete. The process may be applied to structures other than concrete or to concrete structures in which the reinforcements are tensioned before the setting of the concrete.
