Abstract

558,255. Moulding concrete walls in situ. SCHULTE, E. A. A. March 30, 1942, No. 4247. [Class 20 (ii)] In course - by - course moulding of concrete walls in situ, a vertical support rod 16 for the shuttering passes through a hole in the cast wall 19, and in order to facilitate the raising and supporting of the rod to various levels, rectangular section blocks are inserted in the wall at intervals as it is built up, and the rod passes through the blocks. Each block is formed in two parts 7, 8 which, when united, provide a central hole 9 for the passage of the rod, and access to the hole is provided by a T- shaped cavity 10, 11 leading inwardly from one side. After the rod is raised, it may be supported in its raised position by a plate 17 placed in the upper portion of the cavity while slurry can be run into the cavity 11 to fill the vertical cavity 18 left in the cast wall. The hole is cast in the wall by a sleeve 15 surrounding the rod and adapted to be raised with the shuttering on the rod as the wall is cast. The rod 16 is steadied in the blocks by wedges 20, 21 driven into the upper portions 10 of the cavity the tube 15 being slotted to allow the passage of the wedges. The portions of the block are tied together by a wire tie entering a central groove 13, 14.
