Abstract
730,792. Moulding pre-stressed reinforced concrete. BRUCE, R. Sept. 7, 1953 [Sept. 8, 1952], No..22491/52. Class 87 (2). When moulding lengths of pre-stressed concrete in taut metal shuttering, the shuttering is tensed alternately at each end so as to keep it in movement relative to the concrete and prevent it adhering thereto. The mould has a base 11 with recesses 19 to receive the longitudinally tautened shutterings 12 which subdivide the mould longitudinally and may be stretched in alternate directions by jacks 17a, 18 a applied to members 17, 18 to which the shutterings are attached. The shutterings may be lowered into the recesses 19 after moulding by hydraulic jacks 20. The pre-stressing wires 13 are tensioned by jack 16. The lengths may be subdivided by threading pre-cast soft concrete spacing elements on to the wires these members being broken after moulding to expose the wires which are then severed.
