[Class 20 (iv)] Sheathed reinforcing wires d spaced at their ends around a conical hole a<SP>1</SP> in the concrete i are prestressed by hydraulic jacks h placed between the hardened concrete and a bearing plate b provided with holes c in which the wires are secured. Spacing blocks are placed between the concrete and the bearing plate before removing the jacks, and the conical hole a' and the space between the concrete and the bearing plate are filled in with concrete. The hole a<SP>1</SP> has a shuttering a formed of precast concrete or steel. A mild steel ring n is placed around the wires at the apex of the conical shuttering.
