Abstract

698,424. Concrete pylons; prestressed concrete. SOC. TECHNIQUE POUR L'UTILISATION DE LA PRECONTRAINTE (S.T.U.P.) (PROCEDES FREYSSINET). Nov. 2, 1950 [Nov. 3, 1949], No. 26772/50. Classes 20(i) and 20(iv) A prestressed concrete lattice pylon comprises concrete upright elements 4 and transversely disposed brace-plates 6 with stretched reinforcement wires 8 passing longitudinally through the elements 4 and plates 6, at least one wire 8 forming a bend 8a in the upper part of the pylon, the two parts of the wire so formed passing through two different series of elements 4. The pylon is in three main parts and is basically triangular in cross-section, having three series of elements 4 forming uprights at each corner over most of its length, the elements 4 having ducts 5 for the wires 8, of which there are four to each duct. The braceplates 6 separate adjacent elements 4 and have tubes 20 engaging the ducts 5. Surmounting this main part is an upper part 3 having a cap 9, and below the main part is a base part 10a, 10b, Fig. 3, similar to the part 3 but hollow, the ducts 11 being oval shaped to prevent overlapping of the wires 8. After application of the wires 8, they are drawn out in a conical sheet from the base, put under tension by a jack, and maintained under tension by a plug 16 inserted in a collar 14 formed of coiled wire in a sleeve 21. A hardening composition. e.g. fluid cement mortar, is injected under pressure into the ducts 5. for securing the wires 8 and preventing corrosion, and the completed pylon may then be raised. Specifications 591,218 and 592,839 are referred to.
