Abstract
819,415. Making reinforcing rods. KOEHLER, F. Dec. 5, 1957 [Jan. 22, 1957; July 26, 1957], No. 37851/57. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group X] A flexible steel rod or wire 1 of high tenacity especially for use as unstressed reinforcement in reinforced concrete, has a tensile strength of at least 50 kg/mm.<SP>2</SP>, a notched surface, and a diameter of less than 6 mm. As shown, the drawn wire is of circular cross-section and is provided with four rows of notches 3 displaced relative to one another by 90 degrees; the edges of the notches are displaced beyond the surface of the wire to form burrs 5. The spacing and length of the notches is 0.5 to 0.7 times the diameter of the wire, and the width of the notches is 0.25 to 0.5 times the diameter of the wire. The notches in adjacent rows are inclined in different directions to the axis of the wire, e.g. at an angle of 40 to 60 degrees.
