591,930. Calculating-apparatus. LEE, R. W., PRITCHARD, H. C., and PHILPOT, J. ST. L. June 23, 1945, No. 16071. [Class 106 (i)] [Also in Group XX] A casing 50, provided with indicators registering the N-S and E-W components of air distance flown, also carries a computer comprising a rotatable transparent plotting disc with compass markings 54 and distance scale 55 and a disc with a datum line 59 and a time scale 58. When an aircraft carrying the instrument is flown in a closed ground circuit, the indicators give the components of windage and the computer enables the components to be resolved into wind speed and direction. The scales 55 and 58 are logarithmic and enable allowance to be made for the time taken in flying the circuit.
