Class 97(3) In a gyroscopic instrument for indicating aircraft altitude and direction, both vertical and horizontal gyroscopes are mounted in a common gimbal system and are enclosed inside a graduated sphere which is viewed through a window in the instrument housing. Aircaft disposition is given by position of graduations on the sphere relative to a fixed reference point.
