Abstract

The slide-rule, which can be used with one hand, consists of a base (1) carrying a scale of ground speed. At the origin of this scale are fixed two concentric circular scales, one (2) for wind direction, the other (3) for wind speed. The scale of true air speed (5) is printed on a transparent plate hinged at one end to a transparent cursor (6). The slide rule thus has three variably positioned axes which are used to form a velocity triangle, with direct readings.
