1535285 Mechanical calculators for lenses VERGO 24 June 1976 [26 June 1975] 26338/76 Heading G4B A calculator for determining the construction angle c of contact lenses for astigmatics comprises in combination a dial I<SP>1</SP> graduated over an arc of 180 degrees; a relatively rotatable concentric disc 2<SP>1</SP> having two successive graduated scales running in the same continuous clockwise direction each in the range 0 to 180 degrees, the said disc carrying a mark representing the angle of equilibrium —; a second relatively rotatable disc 3<SP>1</SP> having a mark representing the refraction angle # and a mark C against which the construction angle is read-off since the construction angle is given by the formula #=#-—. In the above arrangement the angle c is read through a window arrangement which in a modification is dispensed with for details of which modification and modus operandi, Figs. 1-6 (not shown), should be referred to. In a further modification, the marks for angle # and c are formed by the ends of pointers. These pointers may be 180 degrees apart or at a lesser angle. In the latter case the angle of equilibrium does not coincide with the end of the scales on the disc 2<SP>1</SP>.
