Abstract
591,629. Heating water &c. RICHARDS, G. W. F. and KING, D. H. July 20, 1945, No. 13883/44. [Class 64 (i)] An oil-fired water or other liquid heater comprises a flue pipe or chimney 10 located within and spaced from a tubular casing 15 so as to form a water jacket, an oil burner 12 located well within the lower end of the flue pipe 10, and a single-walled tubular baffle 20 which is open at its lower end and depends a substantial distance into the flue from a cap 19 supported by a spider 19a over the upper end of the flue pipe, the baffle serving to direct hot gases away from the centre of the flue pipe. The tubular baffle may carry staggered baffle plates on its outer surface. A pair of such heaters may be mounted side by side by means of straps on a vertical supporting member which also carries between the heaters a fuel oil tank connected to the reservoirs of the burners 12 and above the heaters a hot water tank connected by pipes to the water jackets of the heater.
