Abstract

591,376. Reciprocating pumps. GALE, G. J. May 5, 1945, No. 11469. [Class 102 (i)] A reciprocating pump comprises a number of pistons 7 arranged around and parallel to a driving shaft 13 on which is arranged an axially acting cam 15. Each piston is loaded by a spring 11 and has a pair of wings 9, one engaging the cam and the other guided in a slot 10. During the suction stroke the pistons are withdrawn by the cam against the spring loading and suction takes place through the port 19 until the wing 9 reaches a straight face on the cam and the spring 11 is released to cause the delivery. The suction vessel 21 is connected to an annular chamber leading to the suction ports 19.
