Abstract

589,188. Window regulator mechanism. JENKINS, R. G. C. (Parsons, J. B.). March 16, 1945, No. 6735. [Class 20 (iii)] An operating mechanism particularly for sliding vehicle windows comprises a pair of bell crank levers pivoted together at 16, having relatively short arms 14 and 15 and relatively long arms 12 and 13 engageable with the window for example by pin and slot connection with the depending retainers J', J<2>, which are secured in the channel H on the lower edge of the window G. The short arm 15 is pivoted to the fixed arm 18 and the short arm 14 to the movable arm 21 of a frame member having a cross arm 19,-which is suitably secured to the vehicle body, An hydraulic device 24 operating a piston rod 23 pivotally connected to the short arm 15 is secured near one end of an arm 26, which is pivoted to the frame arm 18 and has a free end adapted to engage a stop 28 located in the frame arm 21. A helical coil spring 31, secured to the short arm 14 by means of the link 30, is hooked into the arm 26 at the end near the stop 28. The swinging movement of the bell crank levers 12 and 13, which through the studs 10 and 11 engage the retainers J', J<2>, imparts the upward and downward movement to the window glass G. Operating means comprising a reversible electric motor which rotates a screwed rod engaging a sleeve pivoted on the lever arm 15 is also described.
