Abstract

740,332. Window operating gear. GENERAL BRONZE CORPORATION. April 23, 1954 [Dec. 31, 1953], No. 11781/54. Class 20(3). The movable sash 11 of a window is pivoted at 12 to a member 10 slidably mounted in the jamb 3 of the stationary frame, the sash being stayed by link 13 mounted on a fixed pivot 15. Sliding movement of the member 10 opens or closes the window and this movement is derived from a cable 16 secured to a block 30 adjustably secured to a bracket 26 on the member 10. At its inner end the cable is provided with projections 48 engaged by a manually rotated sprocket wheel mounted in a casing 35. The cable is mounted within a rigid tube 20 and a sheath 24 is interposed between the cable and tube. The sheath comprises a helically wound wire-like member which permits longitudinal movement of the cable but prevents any lateral movement thereof.
