Abstract

588,804. Windows. BRAYBROOK, V. W. March 8, 1945, No. 5754. [Class 20 (iii)] In a window having a casement sash, the rails and stiles of the casement are formed by main members 11 and inner members 12 fitted around the inner perimeter of the main members, the main members 11 resting in the normal position against the external face of the frame members 1, 2, 3 and the inner members 12 being partly inset in the plane of the casement sash so that they are set inwards from the external face of the members 11 to form a rebate therewith for the glass 15 and to enter a rebate 10 formed in the window frame. To prevent warping the members 11, 12 are arranged so that they tend to warp in directions perpendicular to one another, and the dimension of the member 12 at right angles to the plane of the glass is therefore preferably made the same as the dimension of the member 12 parallel with the plane of the glass, so that both may be cut from similar pieces of timber of equal thickness. As shown in Fig. 7, the window may be double glazed, the inner pane for the casement sash being held in place by the removable fillet 24 forming the inward setting part of the inner member 12. The window may be formed with some of the rails and stiles of the form described and some of the ordinary type.
